Sustainable refurbishment of our carts and garden sheds - protection, value retention and learning space for children in the forest kindergarten

As part of a team commitment day, we would like to work together to sand down and repair two construction carts and two garden sheds and repaint them with environmentally friendly wood protection paint. The aim is to secure the substance of the buildings in the long term, ensure safety for the children and sustainably maintain our natural learning spaces.

Our forest kindergarten is a special place of education: the children spend the majority of their day outdoors, in wind and weather, in close contact with nature. Our two construction wagons serve as a shelter in extreme weather conditions, as a place of retreat and as a storage and creative space. The two garden huts house educational materials, tools and important equipment.

Due to the permanent exposure to the elements (rain, frost, UV radiation, temperature fluctuations), the wooden surfaces of the construction wagons and huts are heavily stressed. The existing paintwork is partially weathered, wooden surfaces are rough and there is a need for repair in some places.

The work is carried out under the supervision of our team. Materials are organized in advance.

The activities are easy to structure so that work can be carried out in parallel.

No previous craft experience is required. What is important is physical resilience for light sanding and painting work, careful work and enjoyment of practical teamwork outdoors. The project takes place all day (approx. 6-7 hours including breaks).
