About the volunteering opportunity
The wood around our two children's raised beds is already rotten. We would therefore be very pleased to have committed, handyman-like support to replace the old beds with two new raised beds (approx. 1.60 m × 1.20 m).
Your Tasks
- Dismantle the two old beds. The soil can be reused and the existing herbs can be moved to the new bed.
- Build two new raised beds.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Manual skills and enjoyment of gardening are desirable. Practical experience, for example by maintaining your own raised bed, is also an advantage.
What to bring
It would be great if the following could be brought along:
- Larch or Douglas fir boards for eight sides (approx. 1.60 m × 1.20 m, at least 20-25 mm thick)
- Height of the two raised beds approx. 50 cm
- Stainless steel screws (length approx. 50-70 mm)
- Metal brackets for stabilization
- Dimpled foil or pond liner for the inner sides, incl. stapler or small nails for fastening
- Bunny wire/vole mesh for underneath
- Cordless screwdriver/saw/level/tacker/sandpaper
- Coarse compost
Drinks will be provided on site. It is also possible to have breakfast and lunch there.
