Support the renovation of the sandbox at the Donauwelt Special Education Day Center and the walls at the Donauwelt Inclusive Daycare Center

At our Donauwelt Special Education Day Center (HPT), children with emotional and physical challenges are cared for in small groups.
This facility has been in operation for a little over two years, and over time we’ve noticed that the sandbox in our beautiful garden (which we share with the daycare children) has increasingly become a tripping hazard, especially for the HPT children, as they often cannot properly perceive or misjudge the transition from sand to steps to grass. Therefore, we would very much like to make the sandbox safe for everyone to use again.

At our Donauwelt inclusive daycare center, nearly 35 children from all over the world are cared for in two mixed-age groups (ages 0–6). 
The daycare center was inaugurated and designed a little over two years ago. Now we’d like to give various rooms a fresh coat of paint so that not only we and the facility, but also the walls, are cheerfully colorful. 

Part of the team will work together to dig a trench around the existing sandbox and then place a thick coconut fiber rope in it and secure it. This will create a smooth transition from the sandbox to the lawn; the coconut fiber will keep the sand in the sandbox, eliminating the tripping hazard.

The other part of the team will work together in the nursery children’s sleeping area and the two bathrooms to spruce up the walls.
We’d also like to redesign and spruce up our large foyer in front of the gym. We’ve thought about transforming this space into an underwater world—since we’re actually in the basement here—and using color and beautiful wall designs to bring the space to life, making it a place where people enjoy spending time. 

Please wear appropriate, safe work clothes and shoes that can get dirty.
If you have your own shovel, feel free to bring it.

Stencils and painting templates, as well as brushes and paints, will of course be provided.
